Looking north at 5 Points in El Paso, Texas You can clearly see mountains. In a car on city streets you can reach those foothills in 5 minutes, if you know the route. On foot you can hike there in about 30 minutes if you are into walking uphill. This is very much in town to the right of this photo are banking, a Walgreen's, restaurants, auto supply stores and many other establishments. There is green vegetation growing on the mountains, but most of it is cactus varieties. So, to climb the smaller hills is a bit intimidating, unless you are sure footed. The concept of recovering from a slip is huge if you fall on stickers. On this particular mountain patch there are what looks like large radio antenna, which is exceedingly important in mountainous areas.
These lower 2 images are annotated screenshots that show some of the features on Live Search Maps. The particular images are stored at flickr ( you can see the collection by clicking on either picture. There are also maps available at flickr with a different handling than you fiind here with the Virtual Earth maps. I do find these to be quite easy to use.
Over all though the walking about is a mild incline on most streets, you can see mountains in the distance from most areas of the city. El Paso is surrounded by mountain foothills and is located Just south of the Franklin Mountains. El Paso is actually located around the Franklin Mountains creating a shape which is referred to as the Rabbit Ears. Additionally, if you have a MSN account then you have probably gotten the recent notice about the integration of Outlook and Mobile Phones through Cingular.
Most of you will have better success than me with the cell phone browsing. Of course your connection reliability depends on the location you live in. The on again off again browsing ability in the mountains can be tricky. Some weeks I can browse and get mail just fine. Other weeks it's like there is no Internet as far as my phone is concerned. I have heard from some users that they have never experienced any major problems with their cell phones. If you are buying a new cell phone, check online first to see what the later models have to offer. You will find similar prices for newer models as for older ones. It would be unfortunate if you spent the same money and didn't get a model that could use the newer features and applications now available. Don't get me wrong, I like my cell phone ... but, when I was shopping I only considered "I need a cell phone today and I am going to buy one of these six phones (in the first store I went into)." That is not the smart shopper method. That's the frustrated buyer syndrome. My model is fine with an alternate method ( a computer) to go online. Some phones have slightly larger buttons which aren't so hard to press. Thank goodness for the links, because it is incredibly hard to Type on a cell phone. The copy and paste text is also handy. I applaud those who actually have created web pages with only their cell phones. While many cities in the U.S. are having temperatures near 100 degrees, El Paso, Texas which is familiar with higher temperatures is cooler than normal. Monsoonal thunderstorms. Green Elementary School recorded 7.75 inches on Tuesday. The Rio Grand reached it's highest recorded levels since the late 50's. The river's levees being 11-12 feet high recorded surge flood wave at 9.3 feet on Tuesday. The last week of two weeks have exceeded the normal annual precipitation rate on several occasions in a single day. 8-1-06 . Street flooding submerged cars at the intersection of Pasiano and Executive Center. Boaters were photographed along Gateway West. Gateway was closed between Copia and downtown. A truck was lifted by flood waters and toppled on it's side behind West Side Flower shop. Pebbles rocks and mud washed onto roads and highways. Sections of roads crumbled on North Desert Boulevard as the ground was eroded by rushing waters flowing out of the overflowing arroyos in West El Paso. Mudslide caused street closings in Central El Paso Tue at Alabama St. near Fort Blvd. North Mesa was closed in 3 places because of sinkholes at Sunland Park Drive, Thunderbird and near Alto Mesa. Recent Release - Funkiball Lost Legends demo review by debraford123Funkiball Adventure - Lost Legends - refreshing for Game Enthusiasts
This game Funkiball Adventure is so much better than the introduction. This game brings art to the table show casing "cool virtual graphics design" and "classical works by the Masters" in the game and "contemporary art" in menu tutorials and general package." It's up to date with the finer gaming standards. Action draws you in with a sense of participation. Not only did they add cool eye dazzling graphics, somebody took the time to make sure that different objects react more like real world objects. Finally, I have a real appreciation of algorithms and physics equations. By far the best treatment of falling objects I have seen in this genre of games. As a player, you are equipped with a paddle which you can power up...Hold on - powering up your paddle is like putting your all in that tennis swing. You don't have to wait to collect anything to use it. That's real world interaction. You have the paddle and it's only a decision to hold the mouse button before you swing (release the button). Finally games are addressing issues like: "Why are these bricks shooting at me anyway?" The narratives between levels attempts to bridge the gaps in all those unanswered questions we have silently held about our favorite games. Of course, we never said anything because, we were going to play anyway. But, Thank you. In between all the action, they managed to sneak in geography and history and other tid bits that you hardly notice. It's a good game for the entire family. Parents know that their kids might learn something. I set the demo player profile to "kid." You can also choose "casual" or "gamer" for your challenge. Since I wanted to really get to evaluate the game, I chose a low setting so I could see more levels. Each level, power up, special ball, and surprise (there were many) was handled well. Welcome to THE mailing list!!! I don't want to call it the Rob Thomas Band Mailing List, because when the tour ends each member of the band will be doing their own thing. So THE mailing list sounds like a good name, eh? www.myspace.com/mattbecktwentyFirst let me say thank you to everyone for your support. Rob and Matt put together one hell of a band. Together they are remarkable, but individually they are incredible in their own right.
As the first "Official" newsletter I thought I would re-introduce the band. I am sure many of you already know this stuff, but maybe I will tell you something new.
Limited Tyme is honored to be able to feature Albright featuring Vivian Sessoms as the artist we are currently helping to promote! Vivian Sessoms has been working on her upcoming solo release through out the time she has been on tour with Rob Thomas. As fans we have been able to be introduced to the wonderful talent she is and her amazing voice! Vivian has performed or recorded with some of the industries best. This includes P.Diddy, Michael Jackson, Keith Sweat, Donna Summer and Stevie Wonder. Currently during this final tour with Rob Thomas Vivian's vocals are highlighted during the laid back version of Smooth. Her vocal never fail to bring a cheer from the crowd. More and more fans have been turned onto this wonderful songstress. If you haven't had the chance to experience the music of Albright run to www.albrightmusic.com and see what you are missing! As the tour comes to an end we will be sending out lots of info on the upcoming release of Albright's new album Sunny On Day. Trust these are performances you WILL NOT want to miss!!! Matt Beck has spent the better part of the last 4 years on tour with Matchbox Twenty and Rob Thomas. A self proclaimed sound junky Matt has also played on Broadway and with some of today's great musicians. He can frequently be seen on tour with Lisa Loeb, Peter Stuart, Ari Hest, Tracy Bonham, the Push Stars and Antigone Rising. Rob Thomas is not his only solo project he has been a part of. Matt has played the Paul Doucette and Chris Trapper on their solo releases. As this tour ends Matt will be taking a much needed vacation. Although he has been working on some solo stuff of his own he is also writing with some amazing song writers. Shortly after the tour there will be a chat with Matt. More info on that to follow. Frank Romano would spend all his time in a recording studio if possible. Lucky for us he enjoys being onstage just as much. Known widely on the R&B and Hip Hop, Pop Rock circuit, this tour with Rob was his first venture into Adult Alternative music. Frank has played with everyone from Mary J. Blige to Justin Timberlake. He has also been credits on recordings with P. Diddy and Soulstar to name a few. After this tour Frank is set to fly back to Miami where he has been spending most of his down time recording and producing. His home might be Philly, but his heart is in the studio! Marc Von Em is an independent singer and songwriter. Since the release of his self title CD Von Em in 1999 Marc continues to play at some of the best local venues from Massachusetts to Philadelphia. Von Em sold over 8000 copies and his second release free has already sold over 2000 copies since 2002. Considering all the CD have been sold independently by Marc and through the online store CD Baby the numbers are remarkable! Marc's wonderful voice and expressive lyrics continue to pack the house when he performs. While being on tour with Rob Thomas Marc has introduced thousands of new fans to his music creating a following all his own. After the tour Marc will continue work on and release his third CD. He already has two shows scheduled and I am sure he will be seeing a lot of new faces at his shows from here forward. Abe Fogel has been touring and playing drums for over 16 years. He has toured the world with artist such as Kelis, D'Angelo, Faith Evans, Levert, Guy and Kool and the Gang to name a few. He creates the beats and grooves that bring the fans out of their seat. During this current tour, Rob Thomas has dubbed Abe the Busdriver and the fans agree. Abe's wonderful personality has won his new fan base over! After the tour Abe has mentioned some plans of going overseas on a tour. As soon as the details are available we will pass them along. Al "Boogie" Carty has played with some of the best. This bass player, composer and producer list Alicia Keys, Ashanti, Donell Jones and Toby Lightman as a few of the artist he has shared the stage with. Night after night Rob Thomas has repeatedly said that with Boogie the Sex is in the Bass, I believe the fans agree. Al solos have repeatedly brought the crowd to their feet. Al's plans after the tour have yet to be disclosed, but stay tuned for an update. Jenny Douglas-McRae has been working on her solo record. Jenny and her none definitive style of music leave you wanting more, while not knowing what you will hear next. Her tunes are so diverse there is a little something for everyone. "Rain" gives you a funky rock intro, while "Sad Love Song" shows her soulful style and "Everytime I Close My Eyes" brings it all together. After the tour Jenny will be working on completing her CD. Stay tuned for more info on its release!! Again we want to, on behalf of the band, say thank you to everyone for their continued support. We understand that the majority of you here were only introduced to the Band through your love of Rob Thomas, but you have taken the time to want to know more about the wonderful people he is on stage with night after night. There will not be a public review of this particular game by debraford123, because, I participated in the Beta test for this particular game. I can tell you it is worth checking out. If I get the clearance from Sandlot I will add this game to my personal game reviews.
